Our 2016 Resolutions

While it’s important to strive to reach goals and be a better person year-round, the coming of the new year is perfect motivation to set resolutions, make plans to be better, and do the things you always wanted to do, but never had the chance! Here are some of our 2016 resolutions:

  • Read one book a month: One book a month may seem easy, but with everything going on and the business of today’s world, it can be hard to find the time to curl up and get sucked into a novel! Finding the time to squeeze in at least one book a month will be a challenge, but a rewarding one!
  • Protect our eyes: How many times have you been out driving and gotten blinded by the sun's rays, and found yourself thinking, I wish I had remembered my sunglasses? The sun’s rays can be harmful even in the future, and we resolve to make sure we’re always prepared with sunglasses to protect from cataracts and inflammation. If you agree you can check out our selection here.
  • Get organized: Especially after the present-packed holiday season, it can feel like our homes and desks have become a magnet for clutter. The new year is the perfect time to tidy up, put things in organized boxes and drawers, and throw away the things you never use.
  • Visit a new destination: Life is not meant to be lived in one place! We've all decided to visit somewhere we have never been. You can also plan a vacation to see something you've never seen. Even if it's just a daycation with family or friends. It will be worth it!

2016 Must Haves

Happy New Year! It’s officially 2016, and it's time to start the new year off right. Whether it’s sticking to your resolution, celebrating in style, or preparing for the year ahead, we have some must-haves to make sure 2016 kicks off as the best year yet.

  • A fresh pair of glasses: Looking for a simple change this new year? An easy way to change up your look that’s a little less committal than cutting your hair and a little more wallet-friendly than buying a whole new wardrobe is getting new glasses! A fun way to shake up 2016 is going for a pair a little more fun and bold. Not ready to go for a bright pink or bold red? The Andrew in Blue Gunmetal is subtle enough for everyday, but fun enough to brighten your look!

  • Protect your eyes:Even though it’s dark and cloudy out, UV rays damage eyes year-round. Make sure you're protecting your eyes in all levels of sunlight with a new pair of glasses, such as the classic and chic Patrick.

  • Prepare for the weather:The uncommonly warm winter weather this year has been paired with something pretty unwelcome: rain, and lots of it! This year, we’re breaking out our rain boots instead of our snow boots. Make sure you’re prepared for this rainy winter and spring with new rain boots. Hunter brand makes great quality boots for both men and women Hopefully with these tips and products, 2016 will be your best year yet! Happy New Year!

  • Throw a great party:If you’re a social butterfly, why not kick the new year off with a party? Serve champagne in style with adorable champagne flutes, such as these gold-printed ones.

  • Get in shape: If you’re like most people, one of your resolutions is probably to get in shape or start working out more. Guys, stay warm outside with this running jacket. Girls, go from the gym to the mall in style with fun printed leggings.

  • Stick to your goals:The hardest part of new year resolutions is sticking to them. Hang an inspirational poster or sign, like this one, on your wall to remind and motivate you to keep going with your goals!

  • Say goodbye to stress:Is your goal to be a little more relaxed this year? Try this stress relieving aromatherapy hand soapNot only does the scent help calm you down, but it’s also important to keep your hands clean and germ free so you don’t start 2016 off with a cold!

  • Make your home feel cozy:Fill your house with a fresh, clean, inviting scent for the new year with a scented candle! We love how relaxing and cozy lemon candles smell.

Hopefully with these tips and products, 2016 will be your best year yet! Happy New Year!

The easiest way to turn anything from boring to fabulous? Mason jars. Instead of having a drab appetizer spread, put them in mason jars with fun gold labels! We love the idea from The Country Chic Cottage!

Glittery Champagne Flutes

Festive champagne flutes can cost 40 bucks, and that’s just for a set of 4! Instead of dish out a ton of money for new flutes, update your old ones! Glitter is perfect for NYE and easy to decorate with. Find out how at Pretty My Party.

Sparkly Cake Topper

Decorating your dessert, whether it be cake or cupcakes (or even cake pops!) is easy and cheap with pipe cleaners. We love the idea from Say Yes. A good idea to make it extra special for NYE? Bend them in the shapes of numbers to spell “2016!”

Resolution Balloons

Balloons are an easy way to decorate, and having your guests write their resolutions on them is a fun activity that everyone can enjoy! We got the inspiration from Balloon Time.

Fill the air with confetti at midnight by passing out these adorable confetti poppers to your guests to pop when the ball drops! Kristi Murphy’s DIY was for an Oscars viewing party, but we think it works great for NYE, too.

Don’t send your guests home empty handed! No Biggie's idea of using fortune cookies is super clever, and they even provide you with a fun printable to decorate the treat bags!
